What is this tool/contraption?

I found these in the cabinet of the lathe I recently bought.

I have no idea what it is/used for or if it is just random bits that was stored in the lathe cabinet.

Is this used on a lathe maybe?

I reckon that’s a boring bar holder.

Take the tool post off the cross slide and put that on in its place.

Boring bar goes in the v/clamp bit on the top?

Looks a bit heavy duty to just be a bed stop, I was thinking it's an adapter to use a fixed steady from a different lathe.

First pictures. Some sort of machining fixtures for specific jobs.

Second pictures. Looks like a home made bed clamp for nose closing lever collet chuck....something I need to make for my lathe.
In my case Burnerd multi-grip which have a short lever at the front. The far end of this lever needs to be anchored to the bed or headstock.
Did yours come with collets?

That kind of looks like a way clamp for setting up a fixed steady .

No collets or holder But never looked at steady that came with machine.
Was not original this is an adaptor to align the spurious one

Actually seeing you setting it up has made me think of doing similar for a fixed stead , I don't have the reference ridge nor do I have the option to drill the saddle for a moving steady but I do have both a moving & fixed steady off a diferent much more modern lathe with a slightly different centre height . For some time I've been pondering how to turn out the end of a 2 " bar some 100 mm long in a shallow chuck that only has a headstock bore of 3/4 "

I'd be perfectly happy turning 2" bar with 4" hanging out, no need for a steady

Your machine is a lot meatier & bigger bigger than my ancient lathe .

If I were reducing the diameter no probs I'd used a live tailstock centre , but digging out a recess to fit a 3/4 "id sealed roller bearing at each end could be disasterous for me unless it's supported towards the tail stock end

Till you and @Maker said it had not crossed my mind, was not till I looked at both the adapter and the steady together that the penny dropped.
The 2 holes facing the chuck mirror the ones holding the fixing bracket so the carriage can get closer to the chuck

yes a proper 1943 flat bed with a 5 inch swing & both original British made chucks etc.

I am really not too sure at all. It does not help me not knowing much about lathes either.

I need to fix my back gears on the lathe as a first priority and then maybe try and figure out what it was/is.
