Last time I was in Britain there were pubs with things like that sat on window cills or hanging on the wall. That was at least 15 years after the Singer cast iron treadle and legs thing (again pinned to walls) which followed the how many yards of bookends and bogus bookshelves do you want on your wall era.
There was a pub at Cauldon Low in Staffs that had some badgers heads on the wall in the 70's, too many badgers heads. They took them down in the 80's and put up the contents of peoples barns and outhouses. This pub was exceptional because it was not a corporate ale house place, it was for "local people".Country pubs used to have mole traps and like on their walls, just the thing for a bit ambiance.
I've got a lovely white glass doored wall cabinet ... currently it has a thinking head in it.
