What is this connector called?

Does anyone know the name for these electrical connections?

The display on my new to me VFD is removeable and mountable remotely via a cable that connects between these connectors.

I can’t find any reference to this cable anywhere other than “a cable is available” written in the online manual.

If I could get the connectors and pins I could potentially make a cable but I don’t know what these ones are known as.

Looks like 2.54mm pitch, and pin thickness about a quarter of that.

Depends what sort of a job you want to make of it, should it be 2.54mm. A couple of pin headers will do that job and you can make a plug body with some modelling clay etc. other than that, IDC header plugs might well fit with slight tweaks.

Do an Ebay search for "10 way IDC PLUG" for inspiration.

Does look like a dupont connector with 2 lugs so you can only plug it in one way.that or one of the many variations of JST.

Crop the two pictures and upload to Google images. A lot of the results for the VFD end suggest something from TE connectivity. Try both the VFD end and the display end.

Thinking about it that does look like the plugs on boards for an LCD screen - they’re 10p ribbon cables. Bit annoying of them to make it a male-female cable but I’d give one of those a try

You’re gambling of course that they’ve not done something really silly so only their proprietary cable will work and a standard one will fry it.

The pins are 2.5mm apart both ways, is the 1.27 in regards to the thickness of the pin? If so that would be about right yeah.

This looks along the right lines, the shapes (lugs) at the top are different but with a bit of modification it could work.

Not sure if it needs to be a screened cable or if it'd work with a standard one. This is what the manual says.

Have you considered phoning them, number in the picture? They may have them available.

Screened likely means the proper cable has one of the pins going to a foil outer cover, question is which one. A screen pin is unlikely to be used at the key pad end, it will be seperate to ground such that it doesnt add interferance to the ground signal. If two pins go to ground at vfd end and only one ground on keypad end, the missing one will be it.

I'd put it as a JAE IL-G connector, which is a 2.5mm pitch connector, and would explain why it's got two location notches, unlike your typical 2.54mm IDC connector which would typically only have a single central location notch.

I sent them an email and they got back to me quickly.

Rather than try to source the correct plugs/make something fit I’ve just ordered some bits to make my own remote control station, I’ll leave the keypad on the inverter and make a window in the cabinet to see the display.

D'oh.
Looked at that many drawings, missed that little detail!
JAE only seem to do the PS series which looks to be the equivalent of a typical 2.54mm IDC connector with single locating notches, and the IL series with double notches.

And given the previous post, it could be a now obsolete connector, although it's probably worth trying to see of an IDC connector could be trimmed down to fit.
