a simple rewire can solve that thoA lot need the key in & the ignition on though, so it doesn’t work.

I have a ctek smart charger and an adapter that lets me plug it into the towing socket. If you do it Put a card on the start button reminding you it’s plugged in!
I have a 2LT diesel turbo Corolla. I don't use it much. What is the weekly minimum milage in winter I need to be doing to keep the battery fully charged?
I was always led to believe it takes 20 mins of running time to replenish what a cold start takes out of a battery.
How accurate that is I don't know but it doesn't sound far off to me.
On drive. It would work out cheaper than diesel & time. Do batteries have to have one lead disconnected when charging?
In my van the fag lighter socket turns off automatically after about 30 mins so I'd assume if a solar charger was plugged into it it wouldn't do anything after that!@Alan Reynolds
I had always thought that cig lighters in vehicles was a one way jobby. I didn`t realise that the juice could flow both ways. Is that something to do with diodes? Someone on here will know.
No diodes. Some cigar lighters are 'live' even when the ignition is off. Some are disconnected when the ignition is off, unless the key is in the accessories position. You can wire one in or rewire the present one. Always include a fuse though.@Alan Reynolds

Batteries can be charged while connected and the modern chargers will not overcharge. I use a plug in timer on the charger and set it to charge for a predetermined time each day to save it being constantly charged. On drive. It would work out cheaper than diesel & time.
