First guess .
Sweated sootified honey out of a dead bees nest in a blocked up chimney where the top was left open , some one injected an insecticide in th chimney to kill the bees.
Second guess
Engine oil out of a neglected diesel engine that should have been change donkeys years ago .
I had numerous 110 volt single cylinder Petters genny's stolen from the old traffic light set up's & brought in by the local travelling community .. My genny don't work guv can you fix it by tonight ? They usually slowed the genny down so it gave 12 to 24 volts as that was the same as the lights in their caravan & for the TV there in .

Right To put you all out of your misery and knowing this is a WELDING website it's actually what what comes out of my overalls when they go in the wash, I have a large magnet in the coin trap to catch the grind and metal bits in my overalls before it gets to the pump that gets rid of the water. That's only from 1 wash too
So when the missus complains she needs a new washing machine, just whistle and say "yes dear, which model would you like"

Mate used to work for Hewitts Refractories who made the bricks for storage radiators. The clay contained metal particles and that ruined serval washing machines before his wife said "no more". He then got a dolly tub and peg and it did an amazing good job of getting his overalls and work clothes clean. He'd sit in front of the TV in the kitchen at night with it between his legs !

When I was at the concrete precasters they had a collection and delivery each day of overalls freshly cleaned. Same setup for us on the fitting and fab side as the Coote shed boys making the stuff.
I'd never wash my own overalls.

I do concrete cutting and get very dirty sometimes. I throw my overalls on the floor or hang them on some heras fencing and jetwash the worst of the concrete off them, wring them out and put them in a bag to take home and put in the washing machine. If I didn't do that domestic management would refuse to wash them.
