Its direct gloss on a machine, so i am not too worried about it, but there is overspray on a few areas and i'd like to sort it all out before i put it back together. I tried 400 grit as it was all i had, before compounding it, but it left scratches.
Start coarse, 400 would be ok if dry 800 if wet, then go down the grades until you get to 2000 or so taking the sanding scratches out as you go.
If you do that the polishing will be quick and easy.
