I'm slowly restoring an old 4 speed Mercury Startrite pillar drill and am now at the build up phase after getting all the sheet and cast metal powder coated or plated. Now I need to figure out what to do with the motor; it works perfectly but is cosmetically shabby with flaking paint and small areas of surface rust. I'm going to clean as much of the rust and old paint off as I can and will also key the surface using Scotchbrite. What suggestions would you have for a hardwearing gloss black paint that will be applied by brush and will go on straight to metal?

I'd go for Tractol, it needs an undercoat but can be brushed or sprayed.
