What fuel in a heater that you can't breathe?

This is strange. Picked this heater up spares or repairs full to the neck of fuel.



Its a clear / yellow looking fluid like diesel or parafin.

But i sorted the problem inside a few mins which was very slight dirt on its photocell. It now runs fine.

BUT the fumes are putrid. Literally eye watering cant breath within seconds.

I think someone put fuel that is not diesel or kero in it. What could it be? I am wondering how to safely dispose of 30 or so L of fuel or if I dump it into my central heating oil tank.

i used some old petrol to get some ripped up bushes and weeds started and that stunk when lit, and the smoke off it was horrible

Yeah I think thats what it is. Awful stuff and full to the cap with it which further suggests it was waste VS someone paying for it!

Burning it off will be fun, give the Brigade something to do.
I would be inclined to leave it next to the waste oil tank at your local tip.

Yes I would but our local tip used to take waste engine oil. Then the tank vanished and the workers say to pour or dump the oil jars into the general waste skips

So I guess Ill have to transfer it into 20l drums and dump the drum and all as there is no way to recycle it.

Take it to a different tip on your way to/from work.

Dip your fingers in it and rub them together. If it leaves a fine oily film on your skin it’s probably diesel. If you’ve got an outdoor space to burn it off I’d go with that but I wouldn’t want to leave it unattended.
Not worth dumping it in your oil tank.

My guess it will be a mixture of stuff, old petrol, diesel and anything else that he wanted rid off

People mistakenly think you can run those heaters on anything.
They will only burn cleanly on fresh diesel or kerosene.
Definitely not petrol unless you want to start a fire or explosion.

Would probably go away fine in something old and carburetted, mixed in with fresh fuel at a low ratio. Given the now reduced quality though, the value in doing so is probably near zero.

When I ran out of fuel in one of my portable heaters one winter, I topped it off with kero/diesel from the parts washer. And it was BAD, so bad that I never did it again.

The fumes are indescribably bad. Really bad. Like a top fuel car exhaust gas if anyone smelled that before Eyes watering etc.

Looking forwar to safe disposal of that and get some fresh red diesel or kero in it.

Don't know what it is but yeah, slap it on some wood.

I know that!!

This instant tear gas / nepalm mode within seconds. It's not Kero for sure or anything to do with the settings.
