Yea I don't think it's a good idea to post bad welding that's going into a house roof...can you imagine the liability if the welding fails...and you knew it "might" be dodgy
Jesus H Christ, what has this thread become, you lads are like a bunch of old women
Some more weld for you to sink your teeth into (Complimentary comments only)
just relax, look at the last picture, before saying the sky is gonna fall down.
A 152*152 beam meeting a 252*152 beam I think?
So all pride is dead. Nice
i weld quite a lot of steel like that mostly on site ding alterations for a local shed builder and a couple of builders doing exstentions and i can safely say if i left a weld like that on site i would likely never be given work again.
if it looks bad it likely is....and they really look bad!
my honest advice for what its worth is pull them down get a site welder in and he should have them fixed and fit to be put back up in a day if he has a lad helping him.. thou you may need some new steels to replace the awsome mitres we see hear
@magnethead123 Where's the pont in posting a thread with pics asking for opinions from real welders (I'm not included there btw), then getting a bit huffy when the work is roundly condemned?
Ahh but we have had some good discussions off the back of it ha!@magnethead123 Where's the pont in posting a thread with pics asking for opinions from real welders (I'm not included there btw), then getting a bit huffy when the work is roundly condemned?
you see, the builder backed me into a corner, Tuesday, He said, I was welcome to get a second opinion on the welds but if the welder comes back and says they are ok, the downtime would be charged to me. and from your posts, it looks like If I asked the 'local' welders, they probably would have agreed with him because of the Chewbacca standard all around,
Having said that, when I mentioned an experienced welder was coming over to look at them (while in place), he lashed the lead oxide paint on the welds as fast as he could (Prick)
Thanks again, and keep up the good advise
