what dia stainless bar can i vice bend with no special tools

need to bend up some round ss bar with 90 degs , will be in a vice with hammer , no heat or special tools

what sort of dia can i go to before it gets too much ?

depends on vice size, if vice is fixed down and size of hammer.

Round bar, flat bar, square bar? How thick, how wide? Bit open ended. Like you might get a nice bend in some 3mm x 50mm flat but try and bend some 10mm square bar 90 degrees without heat it will likely fracture…

If not about probably 10mm in a vice.

Possibly even 12mm on some of the larger systems.

easy then. 10mm bar will be plenty and easy. wack with a lump hammer easy way itting from the lower gripped edge in vice, or use a 12mmID tube

12 mm dia in stainless is pretty mighty for an exhaust hanger , is it shipping or earth moving your into ,, , 8 or 10 you will do with no bother at all ,,, make a jig and bend it with a bar and you will get good repeatable bends .

That my friend is the difference in pride in your work , and knocking out something that '' will do ''.
Especially if theres a few of the same bends on a job , once you let one bit of twd [ that will do] into your workshop ,,, it spreads .
