Hi guys love welding but get really fed up with random erruptions in my welds. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to this, some times no problems, then others lots Help please
Sounds like lack of gas.
Cause can be a number of things.
1) Empty or near empty gas cylinder.
2) Insufficiend gas flow setting on regulator.
3) Clogged shroud, caused by spatter
4) Dirty material, paint, rust etc....
5) Wind blowing the shielding gas away...
6) The wrong distance between gas shroud and the weld.
Action to take-
1) New full cylinder
2) Crank it up a bit, ideal about 8-10lpm on smaller setups.
3) Keep it cleaned out.
4) Grind any contaminantion off.
5) Shield the work area from wind, an increase in gas flow can sometimes help.
6) Keep the torch a constant distance away. Its easy to pull it too far away as you move along the join.
Go through one by one, ruling each out as you go, eventually youll suss out which one it is.
