What can i use to dry the garage....

Basically doris at home insists on putting her car in my garage, so she has an i10 which is smallest she will drive and biggest i can get in garage.

However said doris wont clear car of snow after its been driven (arches etc) so my floor ends up wet through, same when it rains alot.

My stuff ends up damp and anything on floor wet through..most of it is on metal shelving or in a metal cupboard but im worried about the tin worm.

Is there anything i can put down to help, garage is stand alone so heatig is an issue

Will a dehumidifier get rid of water or just damn air? Never had any experience with them.

As much as i would lile to get rid of doris, she does ok in here place of work (the house) tea clening etc, saves me a job or ten

It won't do owt for the wet on the floor, just what's in the air. Put your foot down with your woman.

for a dehumidifier to work u need a bit of warmth to condense the water and make the air humid. then it will draw all the moist air across the cooling heat exchanger and freeze it .then it heats it up and drops water in to the bucket and the process starts again

I hope the emergency is past because it's worse than you might think. There will probably be a fair bit of road salt brought in on frosty, snowy days

You don't want that anywhere near anything. Possibly not even on your floor!

You have (had) two options 1. don't park a wet/snowed up car in there or 2. keep the garage generally warm but leave the door open for a few hours to let it dry.

Buy a bridgeport milling machine

Firstly you have to keep it dry so you need to be extra careful about no snow

Secondly once it is in the garage the car won't fit anyway

Give Doris a petrol disc cutter and kango , get her to chop the floor up so you can run a couple of lengths Aco drains through the middle of the garage.Refusal is punishable by divorce

I can't get the rest of my team to stop bringing mud/water into the garage. It's sort of fair enough as when it's raining it's part of what the garage is for.

Best I can came up with is paint the floor and brush the standing water out when the car is out as well as leaving the door open afterwards.

But it's just a shed for cars. Your sharing situation is a tough one.

You don't want to burn propane or any gas for that matter as it adds moisture to the air, and moisture is what you're trying to get rid of.

sorry to say nothing you can do other than rubber brush the water out of the garage to keep it to a minimum

you could always build another garage for the car
