What can I use for this on my mill?

Hi. I am in the process of cleaning and checking quite an obscure mill I recently bought.

The last owner made clutch which works brilliantly but in the process broke an oil site glass. Oil is pumped up and cascades down over the gears. While the sight glass is not important - I would like it.

Any idea what I could use? It is 50mm high. Flange is 85mm wide and dome is 50mm wide.

Some older bulkhead lights using filament bulbs had covers that shape.

Lr series 1 & 2 side light lense looks the best bet. Just need to find size.

Is it a level or just to let you see pump is working if so any of those hyd sight glasses fixed to a metal flange will do

Where is the homemade clutch, nothing looks different to a normal Pallas VI?

Cut hole in lid of suitable sized screw lid glass jar, screw it on to mill with seal / gasket, then screw jar to lid.

Look at handles next to sight glass. Connects to motor base. Via levers and springs really neat design as levers go over centre to lock plus a clamp moves into position if anything breaks.

Do you have a V1 as cannot find any info on them

I don't have one. Look on lathes.co.uk, I think that clutch is standard. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any writing specific to this machine.

As Cumbriasteve says, marine lamps might be worth checking out as your glass looks very similar to a weatherproof gaurded light.

Make your own? Turn up a wood or metal former and heat some clear acrylic over it in an oven. Alternatively buy a block of perspex and create a mountain of plastic swarf.
