Going to fit 7 new led strip lights in the shed, might be better to renew the cable too. 7 off 240v 20w led's 1500mm long. What cable would I need to ask for? Think I would prefer T & E so I can clip it to surrounding wood but open to suggestions.
Ahh, that is fine, thank you.1.0mm or 1.5mm T&E is fine with 6amp breaker
I am replacing my rusty fluorescents with led's. If I remember right it is a 10a mcb. The cable will go straight into new units. What is the MCB rated at that you will be feeding them from?
In theory, if it is only clipped you should be fine with either on a 6A or 10A MCB, however I suspect many would use 1.5 on a 10A.
Another consideration is whether the strip lights accept a feed into the unit, or if they have a fly lead, in which case you will want to factor in some junction boxes.
I just put up 4 of 100w LED floods on the folks big shed in place of failed fluorescent lamps.Sometimes those LED battens haven't the room to get 2 cables into them so if you are going to daisy chain them you may need junction boxes.
Right. I didn't know that. I just assumed cable in through one end to screw domino connector and out other end to next one etc, same as fluorescent battens. I haven't checked the new battens though.Sometimes those LED battens haven't the room to get 2 cables into them so if you are going to daisy chain them you may need junction boxes.
Some have plugs both ends, so power in one end and link leads to next light up to something like 10 or 12 units on one power in.Right. I didn't know that. link lights are generaly no bigger than 3 foot most 4 foot or bigger have connectors inside and will accept up to 3x1.0mm cable on strip conectors and 2 no on the push fit onesSome have plugs both ends, so power in one end and link leads to next light up to something like 10 or 12 units on one power in.
