What bug is this?

How big is it? looks small to me but nothing really for scale

They are about 4mm long.

It's May and its a Bug.

And I'm not even joking!

They don't look like May bugs as they don't have any antennae but I can't find anything that does match.

god if you get them in the house there a bloody nighmare .we had them. had to pull the beds and furniture out hoover everywhere and spray round all the skirting boards with killer touch wood havent seen any this year

Cockchafers are known as 'Grillons' in France.
Many years back, at a Ducati Club de France meeting at Le Mans, I can remember the wretched things plummetting merrily into plates of Confit du Canard , and glasses of red wine.
We just salvaged them from their folly and scoffed and drank just the same.....

Many years back at Le Mans I had to keep shouting at the bull frogs to be quite! They'd shut up for a few minutes then start up like Paul McCartney was down there in the ditch
