Just had the Ford Ranger chassis covered in Lanoguard. I was going to do it myself, but it was going in for two new front springs and an oil change at my neighbours garage, and he said he would do it. He had it overnight, got it on the ramp yesterday and jetwashed it, then treated it this afternoon once it was dry. Looks a good job, but only time will tell, sounds like an annual event.

The last and only other time I had a car treated was my old ex-army Defender 90. It was RHD but from overseas so virtually rust free when I got it. I wanted to try and slow down the inevitable so took it to a guy who advertised in Landrover magazines. He had a unit near Greenham Common I remember passing all the protesters.

He avoided having to wait for the chassis to dry after jet/steam cleaning by using a spirit based water dispersant then waxoyl. It took him all day so I spent a day walking around the countryside with the dog.

I can't say how effective it was as a couple of years later, our first kid appeared and the missus obviously wanted her to travel in safety and style so I got rid of the 90 and bought a Disco 3. Lovely motor but I do really miss the 90
