Picked up an Aeron for £250 which was cheap but perfectly good nick other than a new cylinder and the foam under the base needed replacing. Very comfortable as I have recently been spending a fair few hours a day in it. Might seem costly but when you consider how much longer they’ll last compared to cheap ones and how much better they are for you then I’d say it’s a worth while investment.
My only gripe is that it rocks a bit from slack in linkages but that’s apparently how they are from new.

officefurnitureonline do a good selection. Ive just ordered a working from home chair as we can claim an amount back, but as I built the benches in the shack/office at lab bench high had to go for a draughtsmans chair so it would go high enough.

I went faux leather, had it a few years and it's holding up wellI bought myself an IKEA Markus office chair for work, liked it that much I bought another for home.
The do a fabric or fax leather version, preferred the fabric covered one.

Split bit of rubber hose and jubliee clip around the stem . . .Mine's a cheap and cheerful Range leather jobbie, ideal for the short time on it, but the wife complains it always goes down when she sits on it

Had a standing desk at work for years now, couldn’t go back. Haven’t had any back trouble since but it’s really because I’m too restless and I can’t sit down for 5 minutes anyway before I’m needed elsewhere. Though I have now fitted a gas monitor mount so I can bring it down to seat level if someone else needs to use the workstation for a period or the odd day now and again when I’m run down. Nicked my daughters balance board to stand on too.

When I worked for a large pharmacy chain (not Boots) I complained that I was getting thread veins from standing all day at a poorly designed computer station. They finally took the bait and sent out an ergonomics person. They suggested a lovely soft rubberised mat to stand on and a 'bar stool' to lean against. It gave support and allowed you to walk away.
Not this one, but similar. The seat base was best at about 45 degrees.
