What are they worth (micrometers)

Inherited these a few years ago, I would hang on to them, but i couldnt say as they hold any sentimental value, and being as I found out i`m going to be incapacitated for much of the rest of the year, they may be more useful as money.

Top left:Etalon 0-1"
Top Right: Tesa 0-1"
Bottom Left: Moore and Wright 1-2"
Bottom Right: Moore and Wright 2-3"

Also a Verdict Metrinch dial test indicator, same as here http://www.engineering-supplies.com/show.asp?id=2915 used but complete in original case. But I guess that one answers itself.

Mostly quality instruments when they were new and would've been expensive no doubt.
Just don't expect anything like the new values if you come to sell them. Key to metrology instruments is calibration. Items which have certificates verifying current accuracy are still worth a bit. Anything else could be almost worthless.

i got a pair of micrometers off ebay 1"&2" for £20 the pair.

Known good brands, Moore and wright etc: In perfect order, clean, with any adjusting tools and test pieces and nice boxes, £10-15 each depending on size. Prices from local toolman who sells secondhand tools.

Unbranded half that.

I used to collect Moore & Wright stuff and unless it was something a bit different or unused this was the going rate.

Watch it if you stick them on Ebay... the smaller ones especially can fetch less than you might expect, and Imperial stuff has to be cheap or people won't buy it. Even those £10 digital verniers from Aldi are OK for a lot of applications, that's the sort of thing you're up against

I've had M&W micrometers up to 4"/100mm for less than a tenner by being patient and sniping on Ebay auctions; only one had a slightly gritty action but that was soon cleaned... and as we do a certain amount of calibration at work I had access to standards to make sure they were kosher. For the ones I couldn't check, I just took them along on a service visit to Eire and got Lufthansa's metrology department to check them for me

Cheers folks, I thought they might actually be worth something, i`d rather keep hold of them if thats all there worth, not exactly taking up space.

I've just aquired a job lot of micrometers all M & W, Imperial, good nick with setting bars and discs gone for £10.00 a time.
