We had those sort of dies when I did metalwork at school, the die holder is a handled frame with guides for the dies & a screw thread to push the dies together. Good quality kit.I know they are some sort of the but what for and how to use them.

They are dies for jewellers die holder, minus the frame.
The term jewellers is the common name and they are often sold here as that.Does Mr T. frequent your local Ratners? The size is clearly marked on the dies. What bling would use 5/8, 1/2, 7/16 and 1/4 threads?
Three of the jeweller's ones you show are double sided and the 'set' is five pieces. The ones he shows are single sided and the 'set' is a pair.
i might have the tool let me have a rummageSee, for example, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133651395345
