Mind you avg wage in 1960 was only 12 to 14 shillings so it was half a weeks wage for someone on reasonable money.

There was a tool for holding older motorcycle cylinder heads in a vice at one time, it was just a hex bar with a different sized spark plug thread at each end. The appropriate size thread was screwed into the plug hole in the head and the hex was held in a vice so the head could be worked on. Could be something similar to that ?

Reckon I could re manufacture that on my lathe anyway. Would work well on single cylinder engines I.play about with!
