Warming the new bearing .
What if I put the smallest gas ring on for about 5 minutes to warm the centre plate of the gas ring, then turned it off.
Then placed the new bearing on the warmed up gas plate, say for 2 mins each side, would that be okay? This is assuming there are no rubber/plastic seals on the new bearing.
When I said heat, read it more 'warm'
The press fit on the shaft will only be about 10-15um so for a steel shaft and bearing you will need a temperature differential of about 50C to remove the interference. So if the shaft is in the freezer the bearing will only need to be just above room temperature to go on without resistance.
