Despite being a contributor to this forum for a few years, I've done bu99er all welding - but that's about to change. I've dusted off the Clarke 160 TM I bought ages ago, upgraded the earthing on it, got an account with BOC to buy some Argoshield Light gas and have sourced some scrap steel to practice on.
My question is - what else will I need? I guess I'll need some clamps to hold work pieces in place, but what type and how many? Also I'll be starting on a wooden work bench with a Record 35 vice. Do I need a steel-covered welding table, or can that be added as and when I need it?
I've got a Parweld self-darkening mask, but what kind of protective clothing should I be looking at when starting out? I don't want to go mental and spend loads, but I do want to stay safe.
