I'm trying to build a welding table/worktop to practice and I'm using square 3mm tubes and 3mm plate. The tubes have rounded corners and for some reason it's very difficult for me to even tack them to the plate.
I just don't seem to be able to get a puddle on both tube and plate at the same time, so I keep ending up with the filler on either the tube or the plate. I simply can't get the filler to flow and fill the gap between the plate and the tube.
Does anyone have tips on how to get this done? I'm using a 1.6 tungsten, 2mm filler rod and 90 amps at the moment.
