What air tool to use for sanding?
I am a bit of a tool addict.. If I have a use for a tool, I want one.
I want to find an air tool which would be good to clean rust/oxidisation/dirt.. Something which would take cheap sanding or flap discs.
I already have a number of tools which can achieve this, but it means changing "bits" (such as an Angle Grinder and Flap Disk) so I want something specifically designed for sanding that its always ready.
I have looked at "Air Sanders", but the majority are random/orbital and I am not sure they are right thing for cleaning rust?
There is also another type, which might do the job:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDGTOOLS-...Air_Tools_and_Compressors&hash=item43aa383b90
But the central collar means that you can only use the edge of the disk and I have seen a Youtube video of it, and it can only really sand in lines due to the fact that the backing plate doesn't bend.
Ideally I would like one of the rubber backing pads taht you see, but I can't work out exactly what tool it fits in..
Can anyone recommend a cheap air tool, which will allow me to do general 'sanding' and will take low cost, widely available discs?
I am happy to buy an orbital sander, if thats what people recommend, but I am not convinced that they are the right thing for this application. That said, I have seen some of the listings talk about "Free speed", so wonder if its possible to turn the orbital function off?
