I have been using my Sip Migmate 130t for good few years now with the disposable Co2 bottles and original earth clamp. I have suffered poor erratic welds and splatter due to poor earthing and poor gas feed.
Now that I have joined this forum I have picked up great info from other members who have more knowledge of welding than myself, which is much appreciated.
With this I have replaced the earth with a good 200amp clamp far better than the old jump lead style clamp. Replaced the old tip and shroud which was shot to bits. Signed up with AirProducts for the ferromax integra bottle which is Argon/Co2 mix. Connected with a bottle gas conversion hose and fittings. All the above parts were supplied by Steve at Weldequip for a very reasonable fee.
I used the mig today for the first time since the mods and what a difference the welds are nice and neat and flat. No stuttering or splatters. I am well pleased now. I think its a combination of using Argon/Co2 mix at the right pressure and the quality earth clamp that has done it for me.
