Found in a bucket of stuff I bought today. Obviously tightens up on some sort of rail with a slight dovetail to it.
Has 3 slightly raised sections underneath.
Appears to be 45 degrees.

Certainly looks like an adjustable stop. My guess is for some kind of woodworking machine since it seems to be all brass.

How wide is the slot? About 30mm? Could fit onto a rule to offer a register. Perhaps a bit chunky for that.

Mild steel, all from a bucket of engineering marking out kit. I like the ruler stop idea.
