I'm wanting to install a downstairs shower room.
At present, I have a soil floor with a soil pipe... I need to put the floor and drain into place.
A standard shower drain is under a tenner from toolstation. Wetroom drains start at £30 and run to over £100!
I'd like to put a slate floor in, but my partner has Googled and seems to think that's no good?
I was just assuming I'd slate down to a low point and stick in a drain but it seems that it's somewhat involved!
This is an old building with no damp proofing anywhere else (stone walls, lime plaster) so, in that context, I'm tempted to just go for it. It's not like an upstairs shower room where any error is going to cost ceilings. I figure the worst I'll do is make the damp soil below, umm, damp.
Or am I being too gung-ho about the whole thing, and i need one of these £100 drain fittings?
