Wet brakes on Clark forklift

I’ve been had. By a gentleman that gets £10k a year from me hauling jobs etc.
I bought my new forklift off him blind as I thought I could trust him and he said brakes had been done.
Had to use it today and the brakes failed. I can ignore the noisy transmission but not brakes on any machine but on a 9t fork with maybe 5t on it could be really nasty.
On inspection n/s leaks and o/s has been disconnected with the pipe leaving the splitter tee banged flat
The dead opposite of rebuilt brakes
Look to be inboard wet brakes.

Are there any forklift mechanics on here that serve Essex?

Wow thats some nasty work, maybe the seller didnt know its been bodged though, would he have been under it himself or has he been stiffed? Hope you can get it sorted fast

Thanks. My hauliers is a forklift dealer so he claims he was had and insists he found it for me as a favour and didn’t add anything on. I now reckon he bought it as scrap and added a few grand.
It’s gonna cost him more in lost work

it was bad enough having no brakes on the 1.5 tonne counterbalance we had the other week.

Gentleman who moved my Rockford today is a professional machine mover and charged less to pick it up from near Ipswich and bring it to Maldon than the other banker charged me for 5miles the other day.
Good riddance

they are easy enough to fix yourself........
but guess u need it doing......?..
Just look around for a plant hire place, diggers, dumpers and the like.....not the national companies.........
even a tractor repair shop will do it on site....
when I worked in plant hire we always took on the simple jobs for outsiders......
biggest prob is the weight n size of everything....butthey are gear'd up......

Some early large c500 Clarks had inboard wet disc brakes. Pig of a job to fix, but do-able as a diy project Every part you need to get it fixed up from TVH https://www.tvh.com/parts/get-inspired/parts-for/forklifts

Shaft, yes. Valued? No. I meet these people occasionally, always a hard done to story. They wonder why they can't get on.
