Wet Air

Does it make any difference to the perfomance of a plasma cutter if you use wet air, ie straight from the compressor and not through a water trap, and does it shorten the life of the torch etc? Aint got one, just being nosey!.

My plasma cutter was a broken one off ebay.

The repair was to clean oxidation out of the torch so it could move freely. You compress the tip and release to star the arc. It would not move (said so in the ad.)

I bet water got in there and caused the corrosion.

Most plasma cutters come with theri own regulator and water trap anyway.

Dry air is very important for Plasma cutters,if you have any water or oil in the line it will kill the consumables very quickly.

benji Air regs with water traps are quite cheap, always worth putting one in
