Western Themed Lampshade

Anyone fancy a project? I know a chap of another forum who wants a western themed lampshade made. Like this:

I'm thinking laser cut sections, rolled and tacked together. Getting / rolling the opaque material is stumping me.

And do it really well, so the inside silhouettes are exactly opposite the outer ones rather than randomly placed facing in the opposite direction*.

It looks like the sections are held together with rawhide lacing.

It also looks like the very bottom just hangs from the translucent material (no visible vertical supports) so that needs some thought. Maybe it has internal translucent vertical supports (nylon rod?) threaded into weld studs.

If it is 4' diameter, it is just over 12' perimeter, so there would be two seams in the translucent sheet (assuming 8' sheets). It would be good to have something in the design to conceal those seams.

Morning all.
I thought I had better introduce myself, I’m the fool who wants to make this lampshade thingy.
I have a background in construction and have always welded and fixed anything I own, always had old cars, mainly 50s era stuff, had a couple of hot rods and old trucks.
Built trailers and plant equipment to do certain jobs when stuff wasn’t available or too expensive.
So I’m fairly handy, but can be a bit on the heavy over engineered side , so looking for some educated opinions on how to pull this light off without it looking like a dogs dinner.

@Agroshield mate, some really good points there, hadn’t thought of nylon rod, I’m a bit scared it could end up heavy so sticking to plastic could be the answer.
Your idea of making the pattern match up is a good point, otherwise we could end up with different shadows all fighting for the same space.

Hello Russ, I see you found us.....you'll never leave you know.....blame me!

3D printed bits mighty come in useful for assembling the sections though a good point above that some of it appears to be laced together.

As I said on the other forum there's lads here with CNC fibre laser cutters right up to big plasma tables if you need it. Some are even self built. I've had bits done.

Awash with excellent machinists too. Rumour has it some can even weld!

We even have a forum specialist courier.

You can edit your posts too if you make a minor spelling mistake and it not show, unlike some places...
