Well that's a surprise from ebay!

Sold the hilti te80 this afternoon and just finished packing it, chose simple delivery as it was £190 15kg which would only be fully insured if I used Royal Mail special delivery at £22 HOWEVER simple delivery was just £10 for a tracked 48 parcel but due to the special agreement between ebay/RM it's covered up to the full £190 even though 48 has a max compensation of £150 normally.

Obviously the downside is it defaults to drop off so just paid the 30p for next day collection and stuck the label on it since I'd use more in fuel getting there!

That's why you use RM tracked 48 for high value or evri if you want every hassle possible!

I want to sell an item on eBay that when packed will be just under 30 kg. Previously, I could list this as a "large parcel" but the option has now gone. I contacted eBay customer services this morning and they suggested I should enable seller hub to see more options. But that didn't work. Is it only me?

Just tried it myself.

Created a new listing. Set the start price to £1000 and Simple Delivery was automatically disabled. I can now select ParcelForce. What a mess!!!!

Seems it's now forced on everyone and only way around it is to force ebay to give it by tricking the system.

I ran into the same problem tonight. Buyer on ebay purchased the item rm 1st class. £39 car part. He needs special delivery service and happy to pay the £11 extra but I had to cancel the order as no amount of messing with the ebay system would allow him to select that option even though I can select it after the purchase on ebay platform and they take the £ from my funds

Completely idiotic in the extreme, ebay need to sort this

I think in that situation you can see if you have the option to send a revised invoice.

Not sure it works like that any more. With the ebay simple postage they keep the funds unless im mistaken. Also as eBay now keep the funds until delivered then you would be paying out of your pocket for thr postage in the first instance.

unused simple delivery labels are automatically refunded. It can take up to 30 days but refunds for unused Simple Delivery labels go back to who paid for them. If the buyer paid for the postage then the refund automatically goes back to the buyer. If free postage was offered and the seller paid, the refund automatically goes back to the seller.

Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

People may not know this, if your item sold and listed with the simple delivery option. You can not make any changes to the Postal service or change the time from 48 to 24 or even try to see the buyers address. Not possible! The only way is to Cancel the listing and select Custom postage from...

eBay is frustrating me to no end with their silly 'Simple Delivery'.

It might work well for loads of people, but for heavier engineering-type items, it is a mess.

While there are still a few 'workarounds' that can be used (like listing an item for over £750 so you can enter a higher weight than 20kg), it makes the selling process a PITA for private sellers.

simple delivery is great until you don't fit the box, so I just send it with the ebay 'recommend' option as customer support told me too

Everything's turned up so i reckon they have some good terms with paid a good amount of money to royal mail and evri just to deliver and not ask questions

Still not great is it, hopefully they're working on it

What a complete pile of **** the ebay simple postage is.

Now it won't let me dispatch an item at all Royal mail is not down as im able to generate labels for a member on here easily. But cant add my own tracking for this item so I am stuck with the ebay error and awaiting a call back
