How do you get 80.listings and still get to stay a private seller?

Ebay allow private sellers to list 300 items a month. The unsold ones can roll over and add to the total.

When I went digital and cleared out my cd collection there were about 1200 of them. I just sold them in a few job lots but it would have been a legitimate reason to have thousands of items listed as a private seller.

Ebay are sweeping the site now though. Private sellers that look like business sellers are being told to switch to a business account or be suspended from selling.
No idea how they tell the difference from a dealer selling cd's to a private seller though?

I'm also unsure how they qualify business sales?
I'm a sole trader. (keeping tax issues out-of it) If I buy a welder for work, use it for work, then sell it on ebay is that a business sale?
I've not bought the welder to resell so I'm not in the business of selling welders.
To my mind, that's a private transaction as I am not able to offer a warranty and I don't want to pay the costs associated with a change-of-mind return.

Loads of interesting (bad) stuff in the small print, whilst this seems good with fee removal they're basically adding other things to make up for it.

I think there are now possible tax issues if you sell over 1k worth of stuff on ebay?

I buy pretty much everything on there, always pay with paypal.

More like people claiming benefits , illegally making undeclared income . I use to know a guy who reckoned he had made many thousands by having numerous accounts yet he was a "Ghost " to the taxman as he came over from Holland in the 1980's illegally & stayed working as a SE window cleaner un taxed Ghost .. running a decent second hand Mercedes & had purchased the home with his partner who if had been investigated it would have been discovered they had no where enough declared income to buy that home nor go on the numerous UK based holidays they went on each year . .

So the ebay supersellers loopholes is being closed - pay your taxes and fees - I have little sympathy, as a paye taxpayer.
However, I tried listing something on ebay a month or so ago - it used to be simple, select a category, description etc, now it tries to take all this off you. I gave up in the end.

As long as I can still get money for selling stuff on there I'll keep using them. If they decide I'm a business account then I'll be off and find somewhere else.
