My fault really as the Minion knew nothing at all about checking oil levels and I hadn't shown him so he ran it as an oil free unit and here we are. Where do you folks think I should start to look for the issue and is it going to be fixable?

Just had a thought, I’ve had my little Machine Mart compressor for best part of 20 years…. and I can’t remember the last time I even glanced at the oil level.
It’s been to the Philippines and back with me, been rigged up with an external fan to stop it overheating, on occasion, fallen over several times……
I shall check it tomorrow.

Mine went as the breather blew out and the oil just kept getting thrown out. Why I don't know but it was in a noise proof unit/box and I did not see oil on the floor until it broke a rod.

I seized one of those... are leak meant it was running 24/7 so got though the oil pretty quick

took the top off, freed it off, added oil and set it back to work :-)

I once left mine turned on accidentally in the workshop, when I went offshore for six weeks….

First day back I heard it running from inside the house….. wifey tells me it had been going off several times a day, and night, for six weeks….

I always kept the drain screw cracked open a tiny bit so any condensate could dribble out, so it did lose air slowly.

The notion of her telling me in an email never occurred, of course.
