Well, yes, ok I'll go back tomorrow and carry on... I normally finish at 3.30pm, but if you want you can do overtime till 5.30pm, I just filled my timesheet for the work I did, then clocked out at 3.30. I'll give the over time a little miss for now, Because by the time I finish and get home, 4 hour later I'm in bed to be up for 5.30am again (12 mile drive through hectic trafford) A week on over time feels like one long blurred day!

Today I signed off and left a job only having got the job 2 week ago.

I remember working 40 hr week + Tues-Thurs to 20.00hrs OT + Sat morning, Sun all day @ double bubble.

Young un's don't seem to have the stamina these days!!

verry true i shoveld sh .,,./t for a fiver and put nearly as many hours in as the town hall clock .after 40 years i can choose my jobs now

When I first qualified from Babbies most of the sites I worked was all 5 x 12's and 2 x 10's, with digs allowance on top. I loved the lifestyle. Earning really great money, usually at least 4 to 5 times the amount of what mates back home was earning but it was only possible from putting the hours in.

hmm yes

I mean that people don't realise what they are doing to themselves working ridiculous hours and things like lifting too much and so on, it catches up with you later on in life if your lucky if not it kills you

Your times are exactly to the tune of mine..

A standard day for alot of people, esp in engineering/building/construction

I'm stuck doing mainly overheads, whilst the rest get theirs done standing over it lol Guess its the new guy thing, 'let him do the overheads'

What do you expect, I'm sure if a new guy came on my shift, jumping the component section (weeding out the chaff) I'd have him welding all the crappy positions, cause I'll of gone through the same rights of passage.

no it isnt ive had a hernia operation earlier in year and riving around on jobs has knacked it all ready tennis and golfers elbow pulling large armoured cables . u must have had an easy paper round if your fit . after 42 years on sites u wouldnt be

some of the people I know that have been on their knees all their life, not using knee pads and now have bad knees must be wrong and bad backs from lifting too much or incorerectly

you must get a job with the medical profession and re write things

That's not many when I was shopfitting I would regularly do over 80-90hours a week, (in my 20s I wasn't caring at £10ph (SE) in the early 80s, oop' north.)

Longest continual time on job 31.5hrs 10 of those driving to and from job.
