I've been practicing my stick welding with a weldmate p178 and making decent progress. Can anyone tell me what the 2T/4T switch does? I've been getting decent welds so just left it alone. It's on 4T at the moment

It's does nothing in stick welding. With TIG it changes the way the momentary on/off button works, aka 'trigger latching'. 2T = need to hold the torch button down to weld, release to cut the arc. 4T = press once to strike an arc and press it again to shut the arc off

Aha, nowt to do with arc then!
I dare say I would've worked it out when I start practicing tig.
