Hello all,
Right where to start!!!
I am currently restoring an old VW camper van and am in the process of installing a Ford Granada 24V cosworth engine in it.
As the old camper is non power steering (and very heavy to steer) I was going to utilise the power steering pump on the engine and modify the Granada rack to fit my camper.
If I do this the track rods will need to be lengthened which I was going to do buy cutting the ford track rods and cutting the VW track rods, v'ing them and welding them back together with my TIG welder.
I have been told by a few people that this can be done (safely) but other people have looked at me in horror and said it can't be done it's an MOT failure/dangerous etc...
What do you reckon???
Many thanks
