A neighbour has removed a old cmm with its heavy bed plates.
I’ve started machining them for fixtures.
200mm centres as there’s a lot of webbing to avoid

Wish I’d bumped into the job , I reckon I could have done the machining and earned a few quid selling them!
We have two ex-Leeds Uni laser tables - not on that scale, although they are big and heavy... they have a grid of M6 threads on about 25 x 25mm centres... fantastic for welding small stuff
One (about 8' x 4' x 18" thick?) is the main table in our metrology lab, the theory was that we could make fixtures to hold stuff during measurement but nearly everything gets done on a granite slab. The other is larger (area) but not as thick - with welding battlescars.
We heard they were going for scrap and got in there quick
