Welding Table - what am I looking at to get this cut.

Hi all,

I've spent a good few years (back in the day) around old Amada and Trumpf lasers, so I know this project would be light work for them. However, they were company tools, so I have no clue what I should expect to pay to get this cut out. Not keen on my keggs being pulled down, so if it's too much, I'll just move on.
So what am i looking at? and would plasma be fine?

It's a 1000mm x 1000mm x 150mm and all 6mm plate. I have some local companies to run it by.
I am thinking version 2 as there's a lot less cutting.

Where the slats interlock i've allowed for .2mm on either side, the tabs also have some slop but only on the ends and not the sides, i fully expect to have to tap them all with a flap disc and have the files out

I know nothing about the laser cutting or the the way it's priced not anything about cad. So, honest question; is there a reason you've not drawn holes for clamps?

I doubt there would be much price difference between plasma and laser so there is no point accepting lower accuracy and maybe more taper so probably best go with laser. Send some DXF files out for a quote, I have found prices to be around FH brundle steel cost + about 20% so maybe about £180 inc vat.

Thanks TEO im really a novice with the cad, I know enough to get by, Yeah i figured i could mark out and use my posh evo mag drill for the holes theoretically keeping the cost down further.
and i'm still undecided on 16mm or 20mm holes and just how many

Theres pages of models on etsy 8x4 tables some under 5 bucks. I did think about doubling mine to 2000x1000mm, but as is its a good size for me.

for what it's worth, i have that first table @addjunkie linked, i put a little too much heat into it when assembling so it's not the finest example but it's certainly good enough for my needs and when assembled by someone more delicate than me it'd be pretty good value for money. Would prefer a millimetre thicker top but there's obvs a cost & weight payoff there

Try putting adjustable brace rods under it, much like on a bending brake leaf.

I doubt having the holes cut would make a huge difference, if you do get quotes please share them, and I'd go laser over plasma every time.

The above table comparable to the table top kit linked above but with more bracing and a more even hole spacing, 550mm x 1000mm x 75mm, 16mm holes with 50mm x 50mm spacing. The table size, holes, cross braces and tabs need a bit more thought if it was going to be built but it's a good enough example for pricing.

Laser quote 6mm plate £173 inc vat and 5mm plate £145 inc vat.

I mirrored the model for a 1100mm x 1000mm x 75mm table, the top and 16 braces came out at £325 inc vat for 6mm. The top alone is £147 +vat with holes and £100 +vat with no holes, so my above guess on the price probably isn't far off, if you supply me the DXFs I will get a quote.

The last lot of laser cutting I had done came to £70ish inc vat, I have just got a quote for the same parts with this different company and it came to £50 inc vat, so the prices are probably quite good.

https://www.marlboroughltd.com/ They have an online quoting system that works quite well, the prices look good for small stuff but I was well off on the price for yours, it came to £323.58 in vat.

I think for me yes it's only for weekend stuff and a nice size for my goofball projects. I am chewing over the internal bracing though and wondering if theres is too much cut-out, i did get some feedback elsewhere touching on that hence the version 2
