I was thinking about making an auto turning table from an old hoverboard motor as got lots kicking around. Wire up to a motor controller with a basic pot for speed control then weld a round plate to the top.

I'll bear that in mind, thank you. I'm hoping to have a plan over the next couple of days. I'd prefer something with clamp holes to be honest but I'll let you know.

I've seen that mentioned before, perhaps even by yourself. Most that I can see after a quick Google seems to be galvanised though?

Was thinking maybe two of them. I could make something so that I can use both together as a square 12mm table for most of the time and then when I need bigger, I separate them to make a 1200 x 600mm 6mm table.
Maybe even with a hinge so they open out to double in size when required.

@morssdn Yes, you are right about the stand part of 7050ps's tables - I didn't actually realise that! I actually asked him and he explained that he couldn't make the floor stand part himself (yet... he has plans!) and maintain his prices. Having actually found them online I'm still astounded that he can still offer his whole tables at the price he does.

"dragon bridge" recycling in Leeds has a pallet full - cast iron, I think? but slots are big enough for 8mm bolts.

My bit is flat, as flat as I need for fabricating, the plus side is that all the dirt falls through and you never have to clean it off, and you can clamp through it anywhere you want, its as strong as it is deep, about 25 mm, but only a fraction of the weight. You could top it off with 4 mm sheet and it would be equal to a massive thick plate.
Mine is galvanised , but I don't tack things to it so it doesn't matter.
Naturally I salvaged my piece from a fire escape that was being demolished.
Priced some sheet today cheapest 6mm stainless sheet 440 series I think only comes in 2500×1250 and is still almost twice the price of an 8x4 8mm mild steel I mainly work with aluminium or stainless from home a bench 1600x800 would be big enough for me,
