Errmm... I think it might be a good idea to do your research & see what the competition has to offer, don't you?!
You are up against some major players.
I think you will find it extremely difficult to find a manufacturer who is interested in supplying something that has such an extended life... it's not in their interests, they want to keep selling consumables.

Somehow I don't think too many shroud manufacturers are going to be looking over their shoulders on this one...
Not when the patent holder doesn't know what the patent is for, nor that the existing product is long-life and cheap, anyway.... There could be a reason this patent is 8 years old but still not on the market.

I have a feeling he'd about as much idea of what his point was as we do.
A patent shows nothing about how good an idea is, I could have a patent for inventing a bottle top that has a reverse thread top, what good is that?
