Hi, we have a job which has come in which involves a 8mm thick flat bar manganese steel alloy 11-14% stitch welded to 80x80x10mm Black mild steel angle
It is to be used as a wear strip on the angle with a chain running along it inside a large industrial oven as it is a hard wearing steel.
We have never worked with this before, so would like some advice as to welding it.
So my questions are
- can this be mig welded.
- what filler wire is best required to combine the two metals.
-would there be any differences in the gas required to normal black Mild steel (80%argon20%carbon)
-Is there a cooling or pre-heating required?
-Is there a pre-fab prep to the steel.
-Any general advice for this job/process.
Or am i just over thinking it?
I think this is all, thanks to anyone that can advise us on this.
Best regards Gav W.
