i guess your easily pleased then, or thats the standard your used toWhat actual part if the job are you moaning about?, looks like you've got your moneys worth.
i understand the cost, but i was given a quote to repair it, not cause damage that wasnt there to start with, i thought by taking it to a pro welder, the end result would be a proper job or he could have at least told me the proper price to repair it

point taken, i only joined this forum for a bit of advice and to see if any proper welders might agree that i got a bad repair done, it should have cost more, i get it nowI'm afraid that's one thing you didn't do. If you had, he would have told you to take it away and clean it, and he wouldn't have welded it in the condition it's in, and he would have charged you more.
Look, you've had several pointers here that tell you that this work is very sub-standard. The most telling one is that the dirt hasn't been cooked by the heat of the welding. That amount of dirt so close to the weld wuld have filled his workshop with smoke if he had got it hot enough to weld properly. Hell, I have welded holes side casings that I thoroughly cleaned and degreased and they STILL pumped out a load of smoke when I got them hot.
Your guy is no welder he's just a guy with a welder. £40 to weld 8 posts is £5 each that doesn't even cover the gas in fact it's not even helicoil money.
The company you used underestimated the cost and did a p155 poor job. This isn't your fault its theirs.point taken, i only joined this forum for a bit of advice and to see if any proper welders might agree that i got a bad repair done, it should have cost more, i get it now
i take the constructive criticism, but it did start to feel like i was being attacked for simply not knowing the prices of a welding job, partly my fault for being a bit mentally unstable with scars to prove it, ive visited this site a good few times and liked what ive seen so thought i could do with joining to hopefully grow a few more brain cellsRuss is spot on, @mechanical music. Dont take our criticism to heart. It wasn't aimed at you.
And dont make this your last post. There is SO much diverse knowledge on here its crazy.
Everyday is a learning Day. even if its what not to do
ile try and take some more pics as i get a bit more doneYep^ and if you have any pictures of the bike you're building post them up
Looking on the bright side, you could have signed up from Hong Kong and had a real lambastingbut it did start to feel like i was being attacked for simply not knowing the prices of a welding job,
40 quid be about right are you a farmer or Aberdonian ?one of the posts was damaged and some was drilled out wonky and messed up, i paid a pro to repair 2 stud posts, apparently he had to grind the whole posts off and built them back up with tig and charged me £40, so thought i would rather try to do any others myself if poss, also wouldnt mind having a go of alloy welding on a scrap head, thanks for your replies
or Aberdonian ?
An Aberdonian Hotelier would have beaten the price down.40 quid be about right are you a farmer or Aberdonian ?
