welding mask

I have a pretty small welder and im a first for welding.. mostly it will be car spec stuff..

Im looking at purchasing this welding mask? , any comments, good /bad ?

Hello Wozzaaah,

I note that it is not suitable for low current TIG. My Parweld also gives me problems at low welding currents,
Any suggestions for a helmet that will work with low current TIG and doesn't require a mortgage to buy, being as I only occasionally use it for that purpose?

Alec, this one says it works from 5 amps!! Don't reckon you'd need one to react any lower than that!

I have just got a card through the letterbox from Machinemart allowing VAT free shopping on all Clarke products. That would make the mask you are looking at a good buy, remembering that there would also be a £6 delivery charge on top of the price of the helmet from the above shop. For the difference of £2 I would personally choose the SIF mask, I have one of these and it does what it says on the tin, a nice lightweight mask.

My blooming recon conversion car is taking the money, its having the full works. I would only want to buy new and with this new VAT increase it making it harder, SH i wont touch in-case i end up with something that either dont work well enough or has had damage to it.

I have one of these and its great for the money,use it for doing mostly car bodywork and no problems at all.
