Well strangely enough I took it to a chap who's been in business for decades as a welder and fabricator and he reckons he can mig it, so I guess he's got some mag wire. Will report back when its done (or not).
Exactly what i thought
well, he couldn't do it! Its non-pressurised area so I'm gonna try my luck with epoxy resin.

Problem with Mag, there is no way to tell of Mag content until one arcs up on the stuff, if goes yon pasty way forget it! Personally I would keep well clear of MIG if attempting most cast alloy repairs.
Dont know, fire the synergic on it, you would want it round room tempreture...It sounds more appealing than trying to tig a nasty oil impregnated lump of god knows what..
Good ol soak in a trike vapor tank normally takes care of impregnated oil. Fair point tho on use of synergic, I had a wee shot on a dble pulse Kempi mig set a while back, I was impressed.
Kemppi's are good Fronius are king, My mate runs two and when the guy demo'd them we thought it was just sales BS about it will weld this that at the other....But they bloady would.......He's also got a fronius Tig which knocks the crap out my kemppi set's... But hey He gets nice welders and I get to go on holiday
