Welding machine storage

Hi all
I'm a Newbie welder who only dabbles every now and again and have a Clarke 151 hobby welder in the garage!
Given that I only use it very occasionally (it's been 2 months since last practice) should I do anything to avoid any deterioration of the wire or welding tip etc? I only ask because I hear that wire can go rusty and affect quality of weld?..
It's kept in the garage (where else!)

Any advice appreciated

take the wire coil off and keep it in your lasses airing cupboard and the welder if u can get away with it

I cover mine in a couple of old sofa throws, try to keep any damp out...

In winter I keep my small 'buzz-box' arc welder under the bed, well out of sight.
The rods go in the drawer under the cooker oven, with the flat trays. Nice and warm in there.
The mig comes in now and is stored in a cardboard box, complete with wire. With a board and a loose tablecloth over the top it could be a small occasional table...

I keep my 7018 and my stainless electrodes in my kitchen and have for the last 5 years...Bob
