Hi - right now I don't wear glasses, and don't expect to in the near future. However I do really struggle to see the weld pool through my current Sealey helmet. I've tried all sorts of lighting solutions and they don't seem to make a difference.
I figure I need to buy a new helmet, but I'm having trouble figuring out which one to buy. It's natural to assume that something with a 1/1/1/1 rating is what I need, but the last value is about extreme angles, so I'm not sure that's important. I'm ok to spend £200, but slightly reluctant to spend £300 - however, prepared to do that if I need to.
Of course, this might all be a case of a bad workman blaming his tools. I paused my project about 9 months ago due to my abject failure to get on with plug welding. I toyed with the idea of buying a spot welder, but a single phase model with the amount of reach that I would need is massively expensive. I figure that a new helmet is a worthwhile punt to see if I can get my mojo back. The other option is to find someone to teach me.
Any recommendations on a helmet that works for someone of the older generation that doesn't currently need glasses?
