Im a engineer/carnut/bodger and looking to get a welder.
For 90% of what i do it seams a clarke 151TE or simular would be fine, down to 30amps for thiner bits (kitcar and like) upto 150 for bits of angle/trailers chassis etc. And will run of a 13amp skt.
However we also have a narrowboat, and i could do with some welding on that, brackets and the like. Where i would be welding 5/6mm brackets onto 6/10mm hull sections (large plates, with boat in the water).
- As with everything narrowboat they can be grossly over engineered, and i wont be doing much of it.
- But say i wanted to hand an alternator off the base plate what are the chances of a amature being able to bodge some 5/6mm bracketry onto the middle of a flat 10mm sheet with a 150amp mig?
