Welding gas

What gas companies are you using? Currently with air products but it’s getting abit silly with inflation, thinking of switching to BOC. I’ve also heard of BUSE gas and Albee and the likes of hobby weld and SGS.

I use BOC, I'm 10 mins from one of their biggest depots, they offer tri-mix MIG gas, and proper acetylene (neither of which the rent free suppliers can offer), and the rental isn't terrible on larger bottles.

Note that with BOC the rental on small bottles is more than double the charge for a larger bottle of the equivalent product in most cases.

If I didn't need Acetylene, I'd probably use Adams Gas and suck up not having Tri-mix.

If you're a commercial operation, ring/email all the reps for the local suppliers (for me that's Energas, BOC, Gas Direct, and J&R Gasses) and get them to offer a quote based on your turnover of bottles... They may well cut you a deal if it helps them hit their targets.

I used to be with Buse but they kept messing up my billing. Shame as their prices were reasonable and there are local depots to me. The accounts dept though couldn't organise a p155 up in John Smiths. I repeatedly was billed wrong and they even billed me some ones else's account!
I'm with Gas direct now who were the cheapest. Energas, Air liquide or BOC couldn't come close.
