So I had a woopsy on the length of some tubes for a shade area. Unfortunately I had them galvanized before it was apparent. So I rolled out some extra and had that galvanized, cut it into short lengths for the seven short tubes. Chamfered the joints to expose the steel and migged them together. Obviously there was some zinc burning at the edges of the weld (and no, I made sure I didn't breath the fumes)
My question is: What effect does a little zinc in the weld have? I read ages ago that it 'poisons' the weld, but no detail as to what that meant.
Recently noticed on a French welding supplies website, that they had mig welding wire for galvanized? Not seen that before. Anybody can comment?
