I have picked up some galvanised sheet for practicing my welding. Does it need to be prepared before I weld?
I have tried some and it seems to work, but I'd like to find out the proper answer before progressing to the actual project (the new sills I have are galvanised).
Also, can anyone give me some hints about butt-welding sheet (18/20 ga - 1.2 /0.9 mm). When practicing, I seem to make more holes that weld.
I am using a Clarke 130 EN gasless. I have set the lowest power setting and the wire feed to 6.
These settings seem to be alright for making stripes on the middle of the sheet but fry the edges. I have tried butting the pieces together and also leaving a gap of about 1mm.
Thanks
